Just before the second world war former cabinet minister Edward Shortt KC created the company Night Watch Services Ltd. The company was soon suspended, but after the war it was revived and moved from residential guarding into industrial security. Known to the public as "Security Corps", the Home Office considered the name too military. It was therefore shortened to Securicor. During the 1960's it developed into a nationwide operator with numerous branches and a radio communications network. It also introduced fleets of vans moving customers confidential information such as payroll and banking details. Our Mini van would have been used in inner city areas being able to quickly navigate the small towns.
